About

I am a devout Roman Catholic, wife to a wonderful man for 40 years, mother of four terrific children, grandmother to five special kids and  a Secular Discalced Carmelite.

I started this blog in order to share some thoughts about prayer and Carmelite spirituality. I love all the Carmelite saints and their writings, and I want to share what they have taught me as I try to live out their teachings and the Carmelite Rule.

Some of my personal interests are Eucharistic Adoration, classical home education, gardening, crafts, and cooking.

  1. Rebecca,

My name is Colleen, and I am a wife of 39 years, a mother of 3 adult children, and a Grandma to , two beautiful little ones. I am a secular franciscan, but also devoted to St. Teresa of Avila and St. Therese.

I would love to begin to blog…by God’s grace, I hope to retire soon…is there any way that you could give me some pointers…

    All Peace and Good,

    Colleen

    • Hi Colleen,
Grandchildren are the greatest! I think the best advice for beginning a blog would be to just start one. Play around with the options, look at what other bloggers have done and add to yours as fits your style and what you want in order to attract people who would be interested in what you are writing. I just want to share some of the Carmelite Spirituality – if anyone wants to read it – then great!
      Best to you!
      God Bless,
      Rebecca

  2. Hi Rebecca,
I just wanted to drop in and say that I hope you are doing well. I notice you haven’t posted in several months. I’m very glad that you have left your blog up, because there is such a wealth of information and inspriation here. Your grasp of Carmelite spirituality is humbling to me. I have so far to go in that regard. I do hope you will return eventually. But thank you for all you have already shared. God bless you always. In Christ and Carmel, Patricia

    • Dear Patricia,
Thank you for your message and kind words about my blog. I really want to post more often, though sometimes do not have any inspiration. Sometimes I do, but don’t post because I think I need to post everyday or more often than I actually do. I will try to post more even if it is just once in a while. Life gets busy and now school has started. Even though I don’t have any more of my own students, I still help out other home school students. It, and all the other daily duties, keep me busy. I hope you are well! Blessings to you.
      In Carmel,
      Rebecca

  3. Hi Rebecca,
I just entered your blog and find it awesome. There’s so much to read and learn, mostly on Carmelite Spirituality. I also am an OCDS. Would you happen to have the poem of St. Teresa of Jesus “I die because I do not die”? I have found it in so many places, but, not from a Carmelite. Please send it to me if you have it. I did have it, but, alas, I can’t find it anywhere!

    Your sister in Carmel,
    Margaret

    • Dear Margaret,
I apologize for the delay in replying to your request. I have posted the poem you were looking for today. Thank you for your kind words about my blog. Yes, there is so much to read and learn about Carmelite Spirituality. I wish I had more time to devote to it than I presently am able to do. Our Secular group is currently studying St. Teresa’s Meditations on the Song of Songs.
      God Bless you!
      In Carmel,
      Rebecca
